HNZ Manuka Honey

New Zealand’s ecological uniqueness creates the perfect habitat for Manuka flowers. Honey New Zealand has extensive Land ownership with ongoing Manuka plantings and establishment of increasing number of hives on 10,085 hectares / 24, 920 acres.

HNZ’s hives spread across New Zealand – currently 8, 430 in both the North and South Islands of New Zealand and expanding.
To produce high grade Manuka Honey, Honey New Zealand bought acres of rural land and started maintaining bee hives there with the help of professional beekeepers.
They beekeepers are responsible for the apiary, where the bees are given the perfect environment to produce high quality honey.
That was the beginning of Honey New Zealand (HNZ Honey).

Production facility

Honey New Zealand production facility has had substantial investment to create one of the most advanced and efficient honey packing facilities in Australasia. HNZ Honey work constantly to improve each step of production. 

Next to the extraction facilities, the production facilities that pack over 60 tonnes of high quality Manuka honey every week. With over 20,000 square feet of production & warehouse facility continual supply is assured. 

Honey New Zealand is a privately owned company and because they own the entire experience, the savings during production are passed on to the end consumers. 

UMF Association
UMF stands for Unique Manuka Factor, it’s an organisation dedicated to test and grade honey in the market to make sure consumers get the best of the best and no counterfeit products slip through.
They have a scientifically approved process to test honey that goes to market.

UMF Trademark
In 1995, A honey producer in New Zealand met with New Zealand trade enterprise officials to discuss the unique properties of Manuka honey and how to differentiate it from normal honey. In 1997, meetings were held and a trademark was developed. It’s the trademark that is still used to present day, called the UMF quality trademark. In 2004, the first audits for market grade Manuka honey were conducted.
